Carpentry and Construction Safety Specialist

Learn carpentry fundamentals and safety skills

The Carpenter and Construction Safety Specialist Certificate Program is the industry recognized credential that certifies the competency of both carpentry fundamentals and safety skills. Students will learn how to navigate construction sites, how to properly use personal protective equipment, read and understand Safety Data Sheets, avoid electrical and hazardous materials, comprehend construction measurements and calculations, the proper usage of hand/power tools, blueprint reading, OSHA standards, and how to work with basic carpentry materials. The goals of the program is to provide students with the foundation not only necessary to master the information and skills required to successfully pass each exam, but, to also obtain the skills and knowledge necessary to acquire an entry-level position in the construction industry.

Carpenters are required for small, medium, large and multi-billion-dollar corporations, governments, and non-profit organizations to construct, install, or repair structures and fixtures made of wood, such as concrete forms (including frameworks, partitions, joists, studding, rafters, and stairways). The next step on the career ladder for a carpenter is supervisor of Construction Trades & Extraction Workers.

Exams

  • OSHA 30 Exam

  • I.C.C.S Fundamentals Exam

  • CPR/First Aid Certification Exam

Certifications

In order to graduate, the student must complete the required hours for the course with a minimum overall average of 70. Upon satisfactory completion, the student will receive a Certificate of Completion.

Admission requirements

  1. Individuals applying for this course are required to have successfully completed the basics test for computers.
