RESILIENCY INTERNSHIP

The Environmental Steward Internship is for those who want to make a long-lasting impact in their community through mentoring and teaching others on topics in agricultural and environmental sustainability. The skills obtained in this internship can be transferred to many different occupations within these sectors. Interns will play and integral role in the creation and success in the creation of an organic urban garden and youth lead CSA at Texas Prep. The internship will offer real-world experiences for those who have a strong desire to learn through working throughout their commitment. Interns can choose between the following three options based on interest:

Operations Management

For students who have a background in agricultural or environmental science, project planning and management, leadership, public relations and the like. These interns will bring projects and workshops into fruition from the ground up. Interns will work alongside staff on event and program logistics. This role serves as a behind the scenes support for all garden programs.

Agricultural and Environmental Education

For student who have a background in agricultural or environmental sciences, education or leadership. Interns will build the afterschool curriculum for the classroom and for workshops available to the community. This role serves as the facilitators to the lessons they have created at the Texas Preparatory School and garden.

Sustainable Farming and Greenhouse Management

For students who have a background in agricultural or environmental sciences including organic production, horticulture, mapping, planning and landscape design. This role serves as the grounds planning and maintenance of Texas Prep’s small organic vegetable and pollinator Garden. Students will also focus on natural pest control methods, as well as the financial aspects of crop production including budgets, inventory, and the like for the CSA.
