Educational Administration and Policy Intern

Job Summary

Under general direction of the Education and Youth Development Vice President and AAUL President and CEO, plans, organizes, promotes, monitors, coordinates and implements education & youth development activities and programing, including, other duties as assigned; establishes and maintains effective collaborative relationships and serves as liaison to program personnel in/with partner/collaborator organizations and other local groups.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

  • Assists the division in preparation of RFP/LOI responses, reporting documents, and other correspondence as necessary.
  • Track legislation, regulations, other government, university, and foundation initiatives that directly impact the mission and programs of the Education and Youth Development division as needed.
  • Assist with managing and maintaining records, evaluations, resource materials and all other documents related to the work of the EYD division programs (Project Ready).
  • Assist with working cooperatively with public and private sector agencies, local community development groups to enhance services for students.
  • Serve as backup to other admin/policy staff.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must have proficient computer skills and database entry ability (i.e. Microsoft Office, internet research and use of email communications).
  • Ability to interpret complex written material and analyze problems as they relate to case management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to coordinate, organizes, prioritize and work independently and as a team member with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to build and maintain a professional working relationship with clients, funding sources, community representatives and co-workers.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Excellent time management skills; organized and able to prioritize.

Required Education

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in education, family and community studies, psychology, interdisciplinary studies, or human development.
  • 1+ years of social or client service, team lead or supervisory experience.
  • Proficient use of computers to include Microsoft Office, internet, HMIS (Homeless Management Information System) and other systems used for communicating, data collection, and reporting.

Other Qualifications / Duties

  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
