Job Summary

The Austin Area Urban League (AAUL) seeks a Coordinator, Marketing and Communications (M&C) in the Marketing & Communications division. This position collaborates closely with the Director of Marketing & Communications, the Development, Advancement and Partnerships (DAP) division, the Outreach and Community Engagement (OCE) division and our Programs Departments (5 Empowerment Pillars). 

The Marketing & Communications Coordinator will support all brand management, key messaging, and story development across all communications, as well dissemination strategy and execution, and all digital and social media marketing efforts.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator plays a key role in office support and marketing operations, including support of the day-to-day functions and all marketing communications initiatives. This role is responsible for all internal graphic design, as well as strategic and some operational components of marketing efforts. This role will manage social media content and digital communications to creatively position and promote AAUL, its programs, and its services.

Some of the duties involved but are not limited to:

  • Create digital graphics and copy for social media, web, and e-newsletter platforms.
  • Create printed graphics, copy and promotional materials for events, AAUL Pillars, and overall AAUL organizational needs.
  • Provide support for any graphic and visual needs of the organization, managing the brand on all fronts.
  • Design new webpages, edit existing webpages, and manage backend of the existing Squarespace website.
  • Research topics for social media content development.
  • Manage social media content creation and monitoring, including social media editorial and content calendars.
  • Receive and respond to internal marketing communications requests from various departments.

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, English, Journalism, Technical Writing, Graphic Design, or a related field preferred; one year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.

Other Qualifications / Duties

  • Qualified candidates should have at least 2 years of experience within a Marketing Coordinator capacity with a great eye for design.
  • 2+ years of experience managing content and production for high traffic websites.
  • 2+ years of experience managing content and production for high traffic mobile apps.
  • Extensive experience and knowledge in building and managing digital platforms.
  • Experience with brand development, CRM, and New Media channels.
  • Experience with event and donation platforms.
  • Advanced knowledge of digital media tools and concepts including content management systems, mobile publishing, and online community management tools.
  • Proven experience and a solid understanding of social media platforms and social media management software, online marketing, digital journalism, and project management software.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro) and in Microsoft Office 365.
