Early Childhood and Elementary Education Specialist (Part Time)

Job Summary

Under general direction of Education and Youth Development Lead/President and CEO, plans, organizes, promotes, monitors, coordinates, facilitates, and implements education & youth development activities and programing, establishes, and maintains effective collaborative relationships and serves as liaison to program personnel in/with partner/collaborator organizations and other local groups. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

  • Administrative duties as required.
  • Assist First Lego team set realistic goals.
  • Create a structured and safe learning environment for youth ages 2-10 years old.
  • Assist student in use of PBS kids’ software for educational development.
  • Attend professional development as assigned by program manager.
  • Help students learn valuable information as it pertains to the engineering and design of robot movements/functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must have proficient computer skills and database entry ability (i.e., Microsoft Office, internet research and use of email communications).
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both writing and verbally.
  • Ability to coordinate, organize, prioritize, and work independently and as a team member with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to build and maintain a professional working relationship with clients, funding sources, community representatives and co-workers.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Organized and ability to prioritize.
  • Must be personable and have a desire to work with youth.
  • Interest in exploring a career in Early Childhood Education and engaging youth in STEM based activities.
  • A joyful disposition and love of working with children.
  • An ability to interact with parents and co-workers in a warm, empathetic, confident, and respectful manner.
  • Willingness and ability to toilet train and change diapers.
  • Fluency in Spanish preferred.

Required Education

  • Associated degree preferred, High school graduate or earned GED plus experience accepted.
  • Strong interpersonal, professional, and organizational skills.
  • At least 1 year working in an early or elementary education setting.

Other Qualifications / Duties

  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to work 20 hours a week with a flexible schedule.
